Effective Time Management

By Nick Stanlow

The first tip to consider for time management is to have the right equipment needed for time organization. Whether it be a hand-held electronic assistant, a small notebook or portable calendar you'll know better what you need to do and what you can schedule in your day through having the schedule right in your hand.

Next, you'll need to figure out what your most important things to do are. By keeping on the top of your schedule the most important things that you have to do you will achieve better time management. Whatever needs to be done first should be on top of the list.

Third, you will need to create a good routine of what you do. If you wake up at a certain time of day it is best to continue to wake up at that time. Also, you'll have a better ability to get back on track with your day whenever you have any changes in your schedule.

The fourth part of time management is to keep yourself well organized in terms of what you have for your goals. This includes keeping your desk or computer organized so that you can access things easier and not lose anything easily.

The fifth time management tip to follow is to create a set of goals that you will want to complete by the end of the day. This especially includes the more important parts of the day that you will have.

The next time management tip to consider is to not procrastinate. By starting your work on time you will not incur the significant stress that you may have after stalling early on. Keeping on task during the whole day is important as well, since stopping for unnecessary activities like talking with others for extended times will make you lose valuable time.

Seventh, you should be able to schedule enough extra time for yourself. This includes having lunch or a snack and possibly a nap in the middle of the day. You will need enough time for a good power break, so having some extra personal time will help yourself in your day very well.

The next time management tip is to be able to keep good track of the time you have. By keeping up with your schedule and knowing how much time you have spent in your work you will be able to recognize if you are falling behind in your work or are going at enough progress.

Next, you'll need to use a good system that you have going for yourself. Looking for new routines will only waste your time and your productivity.

The last time management tip you should use is to get help whenever you need help. If you fear that you will not get all of the things you need done in time you should ask a friend for help so that you can succeed in your time management goals when it gets too hard.
