Our client provides world-class distribution of architectural building products across North America through a network of 66 strategically located distribution centers.  Their core philosophy is the protection of the environment, so they only manufacture and distribute wood products made from legally harvested forests. They focus on the well-being of their customers and employees and that has allowed hem to successfully operate in North America for over 50 years.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Building drill down financial statements for the branch managers
  • Researching software for 1099 filing, training and implementation for the AP team
  • Working with the bank and the credit teams to implement electronic lock box processing
  • Monthly Sales Tax uploads, managing the integration and balancing
  • Setup of Reason codes and other accounting integration points for new branches
  • Working with the auditors to provide audit documents
  • Collaborate on business improvement initiatives
  • Differentiate between objectives and accountability
  • Help streamline projects related to accounting/software
  • Work on special projects that help the accountants, accounts payable staff and help make the company money
  • Work with the bank for more electronic actions – streamline way the company does bank reconciliations, fees for credit cards, etc.
  • Handle big and small projects related to accounting
  • This person will provide details and answers to the auditors throughout the year.  (Being a publicly traded company,their auditors have an ever-increasing need for information.)
  • Work with Branch Managers helping them to understand the flow of transactions on their financial statements and answer questions for them
  • Provide accounting training and guidance for the Branch Managers

Position Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years working with agility software
  • Understanding of accounting principles
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel
  • Experience in the Lumber and Building Materials industry is preferred
  • Advanced experience with LBM industry specific ERP systems such as DMSI’s Agility, Epicor LumberTrack, NxTrend, MS Dynamics
  • A working knowledge of database concepts and report writing
  • The ability to work with large data sets, facilitate data mapping, and perform data imports
  • Post secondary education in a related field from a recognized post secondary institution
