Our Client:

Our client is a leading jobsite distributor of tools, fasteners, safety supplies and general construction items to general contractors, mechanical contractors, electrical contractors and many other categories of commercial trades with the items they need to complete their jobs and projects in a timely and safe manner.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for leading a team that determines what products to sell at what prices in order to achieve revenue and gross profit goals and then executing those plans with the field sales team
  • Working with the sales team on building and maintaining new key customer relationships and developing and implementing strategies for building out additional clients beyond the company’s existing customer base
  • Broadening relationships with existing customers and earning a larger “share of wallet” with these customers
  • Achieving organic sales growth of 15% a year or greater
  • Overseeing research to identify new potential customers and new market opportunities
  • Forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget and quarterly forecasts all with an eye towards developing an increasing sales revenue in order to meet assigned targets
  • Preparing, making and participating in formal presentations to the board of directors, customers, vendors, investors and potential acquisitions
  • Keeping abreast of market trends and competition, inform CEO and the Senior team of potential gaps, and make appropriate recommendations

Position Requirements:

  • 15+ years of sales and marketing leadership experience with a minimum of five years in a wholesale distribution environment selling to commercial contractors and end users
  • Experience in the wholesale distribution of building or industrial related materials and or construction related items is preferred
  • Demonstrated track record of growing revenue, increasing gross margins, negotiations, relationship building and closing skills and techniques and an ability to impart these on those on his/her team are required
  • Proven ability to train, develop and mentor sales and marketing leadership and grow the competencies of the team
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and CRM database along with strong and demonstrated project management skills
  • Experience with Oracle NetSuite strongly preferred
  • Strong business and financial acumen required; advanced business analytics skills including, ability to plan, track and evaluate data and results
  • Proven ability to work across functions at all levels to have a positive impact on the organization
  • Ability to make quick/calculated decisions and ability to perform effectively in a team and individual work environment are a must
  • Willingness to travel up to 25-35%
  • Bachelor’s Degree is required
