Our Client:

Our client is a long-standing and highly respected distributor of building products across North America, the company is both profitable and growing organically and by acquisition.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for US payroll processing including earnings, taxes, benefit deductions, garnishments, 401K, charitable contributions, etc.
  • Responsible for the processing of all US benefits, both from the carrier side, the benefits consultant side and the payroll/employee side
  • Act as main liaison for the Benefits Consultants and for employees on any benefits related items.  Lead the process to create proactive employee communications related to payroll and benefits
  • Responsible to work with finance to manage month end; quarter; and year end payroll related activities.  Allocation of all premiums for each operating location
  • Responsible for all required payroll and benefits annual audits
  • Partner with internal functions including HR, IT, and Finance to create necessary reporting
  • Assist with analysis of benefits, payroll, Works Comp claims and other related items for acquisitions
  • Assist the Director, HR managing WCB and short-term leave cases
  • Manage external vendors to ensure compliance with processes, laws and service expectations

Position Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience as a US Payroll, Benefits and Compliance expert with extensive knowledge of US benefits (including 401K) and state payroll legislation
  • US Certified Payroll Professional designation is required
  • Expert knowledge of applicable US federal, state and local rules and laws
  • ADP experience required, including Benefits and Time and Attendance modules.  Knowledge of HR modules is considered an asset
  • Expertise in payroll reporting
  • Expertise recommending upgrading and implementation of software
  • Proficient in MS Excel including advanced formulas functions (Vlookups, Pivot tables, IF statements)
  • Mergers and Acquisition experience is a benefit
  • Willingness to support early or late conference call meetings (NA time zones)
