Our Client:

Our client is a division of a worldwide market-leading manufacturer of custom trailers and specialty vehicles with a 140-year history and which enjoys a strong financial position, dominance across a range of specialty markets, and strong growth both organically and by acquisition.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop long-term strategic and annual operating plans for the division
  • Provide direction, development, leadership and coaching to key, senior division managers to increase and expand productivity, output and new product capacity
  • Create a Safety First and Always Culture and champion the safety of all employees by requiring a Safety First and Always commitment from all members at all levels of the organization and a spirit of continuous improvement toward the ultimate goal of an incident free workplace
  • Establish annual Excellent Performance Outcomes and long-term development plans for key, senior division managers and direct reports assuring that every employee understands their role in safety as a top priority
  • Hold key, senior division managers accountable for good performance and established Excellent Performance Outcomes, addressing issues as required in a timely manner
  • Create a Servant Leadership, Performance based culture that results in consistent performance and achievement and that results in a positive workplace free from any discussion or exposure to outside organization or representation activities
  • Proactively identify and respond to unexpected changes in business conditions or in the company’s markets to capitalize on new opportunities and / or respond to unexpected challenges
  • Maintain interaction and keep open communication with associates by answering questions and explaining policies and procedures; monitor associate morale; respond to ideas to improve associate engagement

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years in a manufacturing environment with a proven record of success and increasing responsibility (trailer or truck body manufacture preferred)
  • Excellent (or rapidly improving) safety record at his/her facility
  • Experience or certification in Lean Manufacturing with the ability to demonstrate measurable successes in efficiency improvements and cost reduction
  • Capital project management experience
  • Understanding of manufacturing financials and metrics that determine profitability
  • Servant Leadership mindset and methodology
  • Track record of team engagement and development, holding team members accountable, comfortable with delegation
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects/priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills – all forms and levels
  • Computer skills:  MS Office, ERP
  • 4-year degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related technical discipline; MBA a plus
