The Vice President Sales-West position is critical to the aggressive growth plans for the company.  The successful candidate will play an integral role in building sales and maintaining the customer base within the assigned territories.  This role will be responsible for leading all sales activities in their branches, including directing and developing managers and sales representatives in order to maintain / increase sales volume and margin with existing and new accounts.  The position requires an entrepreneurial spirit, strong organizational skills, excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and oral, and a passion for being in the field working with the sales team in front of customers to grow the business.

Our Client:

Our client is a leading jobsite distributor of tools, fasteners, safety supplies and general construction items to general contractors, mechanical contractors, electrical contractors and many other categories of commercial trades with the items they need to complete their jobs and projects in a timely and safe manner.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for leading a team of sales managers and sales representatives, to drive and achieve profitable revenue growth and achievement of monthly, quarterly and annual goals
  • Working with the sales team on building and maintaining new key customer relationships and developing and implementing strategies for building out additional clients beyond the company’s existing customer base
  • Forecasting requirements, preparing an annual budget and quarterly forecasts all with an eye towards developing and increasing sales revenue in order to meet assigned targets
  • Responsible for achieving short and long-term sales goals
  • Develop and execute business plans and sales strategies for the assigned territory and customers
  • Ensuring accurate and timely customer information, sales calls records are maintained in the CRM system
  • Preparing and making formal presentations to decision makers introducing the company and its product/service offerings

Position Requirements:

  • 15+ years of consultative sales experience with a minimum of five years as a sales manager – selling to commercial contractors and end users
  • Experience in the wholesale distribution of building related materials and or construction related items is preferred
  • Demonstrated track record of excellent sales, negotiation, relationships building and closing skills and techniques and an ability to impart these on those on his/her team are required
  • Proven ability to train, develop and mentor sales talent, grow the competencies of the team
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and CRM database, along with strong and demonstrated project management skills.  Experience with Oracle NetSuite strongly preferred
  • Strong business and financial acumen required; advanced business analytics skills including ability to plan, track and evaluate data and results
  • Ability to make quick/calculated decisions and ability to preform effectively in a team and individual work environment are a must
  • A willingness to travel up to 50%
  • Bachelor’s Degree is required
